Reports indicate that there was a debate within the royal house that considered the legacies of the Charles. Charleses. It seems the monarch wanted to keep his name and the monarch gets to make that choice. Good luck to Charles III and long may he reign.scouter573https://www.blogger.com/profile/10617089494446058172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19810093.post-34416862448404943572017-01-06T13:49:12.168-08:002017-01-06T13:49:12.168-08:00Can you send me the plans also.

...I am off to Algonquin with our Scouts next week!

1. Get the Kevlar canoes. Yup! Can't imagine schlepping one of those Grummans.
2. Train. I never get trained early enough but the dogs will get walked few more times this week.
3. Cardio training. (See above)We distribute the food and gear throughout the packs and have got it down to one tripping portages.
4. Skills training. We have limited ability to canoe and can't replicate the windy conditions so our Scouts are learning on the job their first time out. We go for the same number of days and do about 1/2 the distance. Except for a couple of days we are in the campsite by lunchtime. More time to fish, set up camp in the daytime and enjoy the place.
5. Team training. Never seems to be a big problem. Our largest crew is nine (three adults and six Scouts) and they do pretty well.
6. Test skills. They learn quickly.
7. Have a written duty roster. Never really had one.
8. Go to Quetico. The Boundary Waters (BWCA) are just plain crowded. Algonquin is crowded in some places but each each portage cuts the crowds by a factor of ten. We push the first day or two and don't see many folks after that.
9. If the advisers like coffee, take a spare stove. We take the coffee bags or a French press.
10. As an advisor, stand back and let the scouts run the show. Know when to bark and when to just wag your tail.
11. Keep the rules simple and clear so that you don't waste time picking nits with some budding lawyer. Well put!

If you are interested in Algonquin drop me a line.Clarke Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06847993208762191042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19810093.post-26165289566140864352010-01-11T10:20:18.809-08:002010-01-11T10:20:18.809-08:00Newfie, Amanda Sue,

They're much happier clearing a gate and making you sit in the tube on the tarmac, so they can give the gate to the next flight.

It sucks, but from their PoV it makes sense. The code for e-acute is 0233. Make sure "num lock" is on, then hold down "alt" and type "0233" on the numeric keypad (not on the numbers across the top of the keyboard), then release "alt". Et voilà.

The smoothest bestest way: Define an alternative keyboard mapping. This takes some setup, but it's worth it if you use accented characters often. Go into Control Panel -> Regional and Language options -> Lanuages -> Details. Add the "United States-International" keyboard. You can set up hotkeys to make it easy to switch mappings (by default, ctrl-shift cycles through them).

When you're in international keyboard mode, you type things like 'e ... and the ' doesn't appear, and the e shows up with the acute accent. If you really want ' you have to type a space (or another character that doesn't validly combine with the ') after it. Useful combinations are 'e (actute), `e (grave), "e (umlaut), ^e (circumflex). 'c gives you ç, and ~n gives the obvious Spanish ñ.

Go wild.Barry Leibahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14205294935881991457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19810093.post-87534533983984310792007-03-08T16:11:00.000-08:002007-03-08T16:11:00.000-08:00That deserves a groan........At least it wasn't su...That deserves a groan........

At least it wasn't summer with scantily clad tourists, now that's a sight to see.Hamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17182921009517833997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19810093.post-4843036107282923932006-12-24T17:01:00.000-08:002006-12-24T17:01:00.000-08:00P.S. They're all along rivers and streams, in low-lying areas, and they tend to flood when it rains a lot.

A year or two ago, during a heavy rainstorm, a tree uprooted on the Saw Mill River Parkway and fell on an SUV during afternoon rush hour.
